Moving to 8-Colour Flow
Sandy Smith is a Senior Scientist in the Clinical Flow Cytometry Laboratory at SydPath, St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney. He oversees all flow cytometry in SydPath, including lymphocyte subsets, oncology phenotyping and CD34 counting. He has completed a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Medical Science (Pathology). From 1998, Sandy has worked in flow cytometry in several private pathology laboratories, and at the Sydney Cord Blood Bank, before accepting his current position in 2003. His work in SydPath has involved developing and implementing change plans and validations for: 3 to 4 colour oncology; 4 to 8 colour flow cytometry for lymphocyte subsets and oncology; CD34 enumeration; lysing techniques; intracellular staining techniques; cytometric bead assays. He was also a member of the Viable CD34 Enumeration Working Party for the NSW Bone Marrow Transplant Network. |

Peter Gambell is the Scientist-in-charge of the Haematopathology & the PBPC Cryopreservation laboratories at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He has a key interest in Flow Cytometry & its application in haematological malignancies - he has been working in this field for more than 15 years. |
