Case Studies in QA/QC
John joined the Royal Melbourne Hospital as a medical scientist in 1982 and here he gained experience in all facets of routine clinical chemistry. In his time there he was also QC Officer and he developed and co-ordinated the Hospitals Ward Glucose-Meter QC Program. In 1995 John moved to SA and took up a position as full time QC Coordinator with Gribbles Pathology S.A. to manage QC and QA activities for the central laboratory and 10 regional laboratories. In 2001 he took up an appointment as a senior scientist with the RCPA AACB Chemical Pathology QAP, and had major involvement with the development and implementation of the QAP's website as well as being involved in the day-to-day management of the QAP programs and contributing to QA Education. In 2005 John returned to Victoria to join Melbourne Pathology as Senior Scientist - in charge of Quality Assurance, and is also 2nd in Charge of Biochemistry. Here he is involved in the evaluation and induction of all methods and instruments and in the supervision of quality in Bio-Chemistry & in the Regional Laboratories. John has also been actively involved in the AACB Branch Committee of SA and in the SA&NT AACB QC Sub-Committee and has held various offices. He was also a member of the AACB Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Committee (SRAC) 2004 - 2007, and is now currently a member of the Victorian AACB QC Sub-Committee. |
