Haemophilia A testing in the Clinical Genetics Laboratory
Kerryn Weekes had over 20 years experience in pædiatric and general hæmatology laboratories in Australia and overseas before moving into diagnostic molecular hæmatology. She is now Scientist-in-Charge at Monash Medical Centre's Clinical Genetics Laboratory, the Victorian reference centre for both thalassæmia and hæmophilia A molecular testing. |
von Willibrand's Disease
Dr Ellen Maxwell has been Director of Haematology at Melbourne Pathology since 2003. A University of Melbourne graduate, she completed combined fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 1997. Her interest in congenital and acquired bleeding disorders, thrombosis and transfusion medicine developed at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where she completed her advanced training and worked in the Haemophilia Treatment Centre. Dr Maxwell is involved in teaching and education for medical students, advanced trainees in haematology, medical scientists, nursing staff and GPs. She is a member of the RCPA Haematology Advisory Committee and Pathology Update (Haematology) Subcommittees, Chair of the Victorian Blood User Group, a member of the Victorian Haemovigilance Committee (STIR) and the Clinical Practice Improvement Committee for ANZSBT. |
